Dr. Thomas Wuerz is a Board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a specialized focus on hip arthroscopic surgery, an area where he has established himself as a leading expert. His practice, based out of New England Baptist Hospital and various outpatient surgery centers, emphasizes the treatment of hip conditions with cutting-edge arthroscopic techniques.

Originating from a strong academic background, Dr. Wuerz completed his medical degree at Eberhard-Karls-University of Tuebingen in Germany, followed by a residency that spanned the Inselspital in Berne, Switzerland, and the Cleveland Clinic. His advanced fellowship at Rush University Medical Center further solidified his expertise in orthopedic surgery. He was awarded a prestigious traveling fellowship from the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy – The Hip Preservation Society allowing him to further advance his training, knowledge and skills at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado, and at the Schulthess Klinik in Zurich, Switzerland.

Dr. Wuerz is particularly renowned for his proficiency in performing labral repair and reconstruction, femoral osteochondroplasty, capsular closure and plication during hip arthroscopic procedures. In addition he has expertise in open abductor repair, augmentation, and reconstruction. His role as a team physician for Harvard University and the United States Ski Team underscores his expertise in sports medicine, providing top-tier care to athletes at both  collegiate and professional levels. Dr. Wuerz is also a member of the physician advisory board for the Boston Ballet.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Wuerz is an active board member of the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA) and the Massachusetts Orthopedic Association (MOA). He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).
